Why study Optometry through CMAI - DOOT?
DOOT, started in JEH, under the aegis of CHRISTIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF INDIA (CMAI),in 1999, ensures that the trainees become qualified to practice optometry becoming proficient in dispensing optics, becoming ready to make a meaningful impact in the field of optometry. DOOT graduates are eye care professional conducting comprehensive eye exams, diagnosing vision issues, and prescribing corrective measures. Beyond primary care, this professions contribute to the eyewear industry, marketing, manage optical workshops, and play a crucial role in the detection and management of eye conditions.

Career Development
Our DOOT graduates are working in hospitals, both private and government, in or own optical shops. Some are also working in the middle-east.

Affiliations
DOOT is affiliated to CMAI, an association of Christian Health Institutes and Health Professionals and has fellowship, advisory, assistance, consultancy as well as educational training programs for institutes, doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, chaplains and administrators. Healthy Community is CMAI’s central theme and overall objective.
The Allied Health Professional section is a forum association for all allied health professionals who are working in health care centers with about 60 disciplines and is part of CMAI since 1963. In 2016, CMAI became a part of the board of national Healthcare Sector Skill Council as Training Partner to conduct multiple short term allied health courses.

Courses and Admission
DOOT course duration is 2 years + 6 months internship.Admission criteria include age eligibility and specific subject requirements, with selection based on marks obtained in the eleventh and twelfth classes (State CBSE and equivalent board).

Diploma in Optometry
Admission will be determined by the marks obtained in the eleventh and twelth classes, carefully following the guidelines established by the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR. Medical University.
